Are you currently trying to decide on your European holiday base?

Whether you are going alone or going together, Amsterdam makes a wonderful jumping off point for many other popular destinations in Europe including Belgium, Germany, and France.

Amsterdam boasts not only its proximity to numerous attractions but also its user-friendly transit systems, ensuring seamless navigation and reducing the likelihood of losing your way. This combination renders it an ideal choice for maximizing your activity-filled agenda within a limited timeframe.

Why Amsterdam is a great base for day trips?

Amsterdam is strategically located in the heart of Europe, making it a convenient starting point for exploring neighboring countries and cities. It's well-connected by train, bus, and even short flights to various destinations.

The Netherlands has an efficient and well-developed public transportation system, including trains, buses, trams, and ferries. This makes it easy to access nearby towns and cities quickly and comfortably.

Popular day trip destinations from Amsterdam include Zaanse Schans, Haarlem, Utrecht, Rotterdam, The Hague, and even further afield to cities like Brussels and Antwerp in Belgium.

Below are the details of our stay and the tours we personally went on!

During my last trip to Amsterdam I was careful to pick a centrally located hotel! We scored big with the Kimpton De Witt Amsterdam, and stayed at the perfect hotel.

This hotel is only a 450m walk, just a short 6 minute stride, to Amsterdam Central Station (where most day trips and tours begin). This made getting up and out the door for each day trip very easy and pain free.
