Hiking is a beloved past time for many residents of Western North Carolina (NC) and the neighboring states beyond. The Blue Ridge Parkway spans across a vast section of NC providing numerous trails to connect with nature or catch that legendary sunset.
There is one trail in particular that I believe has truly breathtaking views and have a special place in my heart that keeps me coming back year after year. This trail was selected based on the view it provides, accessibility to the public, and it's proximity to Asheville NC. This trail is called Craggy Gardens.
While Fall is the most popular season for visiting Asheville and the North Carolina Mountain ranges, the trails are often accessible during the months of late May - October and provide advantages for guests during any season.

Best Time to Visit: Spring, Summer, Fall
Craggy Gardens is located North on the Blue Ridge Parkway approximately 12 miles from Asheville, NC. The trail leads to a beautiful 360 view of the parkway providing a stunning view.
The view can be accessed from the visitor center if you are in a vehicle and gets extremely packed during the fall month of October as those from out of state come to view the spectacular leaves.
While the Visitor Center is only open in the summer and fall, the parking area remains open as long as the parkway is open. However, due to the likelihood in extreme winter weather in this area, the Parkway is closed much of the winter.
