If you're planning a trip to the Bahamas, visiting Atlantis is likely high on your list of things to do. With its luxurious accommodations, stunning water parks, and white sandy beaches, Atlantis is a true paradise for tourists.
However, before you embark on your journey, there are some important things you should know to ensure a smooth and enjoyable vacation. Here are five essential tips to help you make the most out of your Atlantis experience.
1. Plan ahead and book early
Atlantis is a popular destination, and its peak seasons can get extremely busy. To avoid disappointment and secure your desired room and activities, it's best to book early.
Start by deciding what kind of experience you want and what activities you're interested in. Do you want a family centered accommodation like the Royal, or a kid free space like the Cove. From there, you can create a detailed itinerary and make reservations for everything from your room to your excursions.
2. Know your budget
Atlantis is not a cheap destination, and prices for accommodations, food, and activities can quickly add up. To avoid overspending, set a budget before you arrive and stick to it. In this travel instance I would also suggest bringing a carry on of water, sunscreen, snacks, over the counter medications and anything you think you may possibly need. Having to pay for these items at the resort will cost significantly more than items from home.
Another area you will need to budget for is activities. Many activities at Atlantis are included, however many including swimming with the dolphins, snorkeling or booking cabana is not. Research prices for everything you want to do, and plan your activities accordingly. This way, you can still have a great time without breaking the bank.
3. Plan your meals
Food is a significant expense at Atlantis, and meals at the resort's restaurants can be quite pricey. Not only pricey, but with the number of guests at the resort, reservations fill up quickly and if you do not make them in advance you may find yourself without something to eat.
If you're looking to save money, consider purchasing a meal plan. Atlantis offers several meal plans that allow you to dine at a variety of restaurants throughout the resort. Not only will you save money, but you'll also have the flexibility to try new foods and restaurants.
4. Bring comfortable walking shoes
This point is not a joke. Atlantis is a massive resort, and you'll likely be doing a lot of walking throughout your stay, especially if you are staying at one of their budget hotels on site. My first time at Atlantis, we stayed in the Coral. Each day we walked around the resort to the beaches and restaurants and clocked 3-5 miles of walking... EACH DAY!
To ensure you don't tire out too quickly, bring comfortable walking shoes. I know that this sounds silly and that you plan to pack your plastic flip flops. But I promise, you'll be grateful for these comfortable shoes when you're trekking from one activity to another or exploring the various areas of the resort.
5. Pack appropriate attire
Atlantis has a variety of dress codes depending on the activity or restaurant you're visiting. To avoid any issues, pack appropriate attire for each activity or dining experience. Be sure to bring swimwear, casual clothes, and at least one nice outfit for evening activities. Also, don't forget to pack sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from the sun.
In conclusion, Atlantis is a beautiful destination that offers something for everyone. By following these five essential tips, you can make the most out of your visit and enjoy a memorable vacation in the Bahamas.
